Cittador International Film Festival: Where Quality and Creativity Conquer the Screen
The Cittador International Film Festival (CIFF) serves as a platform for independent films. Filmmakers Ana Bilić and Danilo Wimmer launched the festival in 2022. Every December, it takes place at the Lugner Kino in Vienna. This vibrant event showcases national and international independent films in all their diversity. A celebratory awards ceremony and a meet-and-greet provide opportunities for filmmakers and audiences to connect.
Our mission is to select and honor the best independent films based solely on quality. CIFF remains truly independent, free from commercial constraints, and curates films based on artistic and content criteria. The CIFF jury carefully evaluates each work. Award-winning films also receive a public jury statement, highlighting the significance and uniqueness of the selection.
The festival focuses on amplifying filmmakers’ perspectives and visions. CIFF conducts interviews upon film submission and publishes them in the festival catalogue, allowing all selected artists—whether awarded or not—to share their thoughts. Additionally, the festival produces video interviews with filmmakers and team members. These conversations become part of the “Cittador’s Talks” series, available on the website.
With its diverse range of genres, unwavering commitment to quality, and open dialogue between audiences and filmmakers, CIFF stands as a unique celebration of independent cinema. The festival creates a stage for stories that must be told and voices that deserve to be heard.
